{"id":341,"date":"2016-07-31T23:10:14","date_gmt":"2016-07-31T23:10:14","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/vphswp.dreamhosters.com\/?page_id=341"},"modified":"2017-10-16T04:22:44","modified_gmt":"2017-10-16T04:22:44","slug":"band-camp","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/villaparkim.dreamhosters.com\/vphsim\/band-camp\/","title":{"rendered":"Band Camp"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em><strong>Welcome Musicians &amp; Families to the VPHS March N Spartans!<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p>Every year VPHS March N Spartans and Color Guard attend the <strong>Summer Music Retreat<\/strong>\u00a0(aka BAND CAMP)<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><i><strong>When:<\/strong>\u00a0\u00a0<\/i>The three weeks before school begins\u00a0(<span class=\"aBn\" tabindex=\"0\" data-term=\"goog_905627622\"><span class=\"aQJ\">Monday<\/span><\/span> through <span class=\"aBn\" tabindex=\"0\" data-term=\"goog_905627623\"><span class=\"aQJ\">Friday<\/span><\/span>) from <span class=\"aBn\" tabindex=\"0\" data-term=\"goog_905627624\"><span class=\"aQJ\">8:00 am &#8211; 2:00 pm<\/span><\/span>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>What:<\/strong> Summer Music Retreat consists of opportunities for all of the March N Spartans to meet and greet, learn new music, be trained\u00a0in marching skills, and prepare the new Field Show for the upcoming football\u00a0season.<\/p>\n<p>The <strong>Color Guard<\/strong> meets the same time as band camp. New and returning members will learn to use various equipment, such as flags, rifles, and sabres, along with dance, to express dynamic passages in the music as they accompany the marching band during parades and all home game football half-time field shows.<\/p>\n<p>HELPFUL BAND CAMP HINTS:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Wear clothing suitable for outdoor exercise (hats, sunscreen)<\/li>\n<li>Wear comfortable walking shoes \u2013 tennis shoes preferred<\/li>\n<li>Get a good night sleep and hydrate<\/li>\n<li>Be sure to eat little something before you come, but not too much<\/li>\n<li>Bring light snacks and water<\/li>\n<li>Bring your own lunch<\/li>\n<li>Bring your instrument (if you have one to bring)<\/li>\n<li>Be prepared to have fun and make new friends<\/li>\n<li>Did we mention hydrate?<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Welcome Musicians &amp; Families to the VPHS March N Spartans!
