It's all about the ladies, and man can they swing to those jazz tunes. Hmmmm, sounds like a good name for a group, right? Well, you guessed right -- they're the VPHS Ladies of Swing. You'll be goovin' and movin' to some oldies and goodies by these lovely ladies sporting their spirited blue and white colors. Besides their lovely tunes served with a friendly smile, who knows what other surprises they'll bring --- just that they'll do it with style! Their innaugural performance at the 2015 Parent's Night was only the start of something great to come, so be looking out for their next gig coming to a stage near you.
The Superband is an expansion of the jazz combo that includes several of each wind instrument as well as accessory percussion and vocals. Whether it's performing at the VPHS back to school night, open house, or on the road at Disneyland, this impressive musical group packs a powerful punch at every opportunity.
Vocal Ensemble is a year-long course designed for male and femail singers who are intermediate in experience and capable of performing many music styles in a mixed choir. Choreography is expected to be included as part of the experience of this course. Students will continue to build their knowledge of vocal music, singing techniques, and music theory and apply them to performance.
The Spartan Drum and Bugle Corps is a high energy and dynamic small marching ensemble that specializes in exciting performances at non-traditional marching venues. Don't miss a chance to see them at a school basketball game or one of many community events throughout Southern California!
The Marchin' Spartans have long been considered one of the most visible and respected representatives of our campus. Performing throughout the Southland for thousands of people every year, the marching arts are well represented by the Marchin' Spartans and Color Guard and the Marchin' Spartan Drum and Bugle Corps. The Marchin' Spartans and Color Guard will perform at five home football games as well as marching competitions.

The Instrumental Music program at Villa Park High School is proud to include a dynamic, innovative, imaginative and exciting Color Guard program. Performing throughout the year, the Guard adds visual excitement and dance interpretation to the music of the Marchin' Spartans. By incorporating rifles, flags, scarves and dance, the Color Guard compliments the Marchin' Spartans as a visual effect in field shows and parades. During the spring semester, the Guard perfects and performs an independent competitive routine that showcases their equipment execution and dance skills. Detailed choreography highlights the Color Guard component of the program and adds substantially to the total perrformance package.
The jazz program at Villa Park High School is a very popular component of the instrumental music curriculum and is designed for intermediate to advanced players that want to explore the jazz idiom. Ensembles include the Jazz Ensemble and the Jazz Combo. From swing to rock, the jazz program allows accepted students to stretch their individual as well as their ensemble playing skills. Featured at the annual Fine Arts Festival, the jazz program is popular with students and parents alike.
The Villa Park Orchestra is often invited to perform at special events throughout the community -- making for a busy concert schedule and increasing demands for their special brand of music. Substantial growth in the string program has opened the door for additional symphonic literature not normally available to high school musicians.
The concert component of the wind music program at Villa Park High School is diverse and truly designed to afford every student an opportunity to participate in a quality ensemble. The Wind Ensemble is a "by audition" one player per part advanced ensemble that rehearses and performs some of the most advanced wind literature. Designed for the accomplished player, most members have or are studying privately and demonstrate a very high degree of technical and musical expertise on their instrument.
The Symphonic Ensemble is a large wind instrument ensemble open to all student musicians that demonstrate at least fundamental competency on their instrument. Specializing in thematic concerts and performances, the Symphonic Ensemble explores a wide variety of musical literature throughout the year and encourages substantial individual advancement on assigned instruments.
Numerous small ensembles complete the concert music offerings. These ensembles include the popular Saxtet, the Brasstet, the Broadway Ensemble and a variety of classical and popular oriented specialized ensembles. There is truly something for everyone!
